Weekend Grooming Update

Well folks, unfortunately the road conditions last night meant I couldn't get back to Laramie in time to groom, and doubly unfortunately the rest of the grooming crew are also out of town this weekend. All this means that we were unable to get up to groom this weekend. We will do our best to get up there ASAP this week and get the RT and Loop groomed. Happy spring skiing.

Weekend Grooming

Grooming plans for the weekend: it sounds like there has been a bit of fresh snow through the week, and despite high temperatures and wind there is still mostly decent coverage of the Rail Trail. It is also potentially going to snow a little bit tonight (Sat). The tentative plan at the moment is to groom tomorrow (Sun) morning, contingent on travel plans for the grooming crew. We will update tomorrow, or if the plan changes. Have a good weekend!

Grooming This Weekend (3/6)

 Hi all,

I am going to do my best to get up and roll/groom this fresh snow either late Saturday or very early Sunday morning. There is a reported 4-6" of fresh snow, and as it's not supposed to be over warm tomorrow (Sat) during the day, and hopefully not too windy, it should still groom out very nicely.
Look for some fresh grooming by mid-day Sunday. Depending on how much it snowed and how heavy it is, it's highly likely that Rail Trail + Loop will be groomed, and at least one pass rolled on Jelm and maybe Porters.

Happy Skiing

Classic Race Tomorrow

We did our best to set classic tracks for tomorrow's 7.5k classic race. The snow firmed up quite a bit this afternoon/evening and while the tracks went in beautifully in most places, they are shallow to non-existent in others. The race course is the same as today's skate race (the Rail Trail Loop and the new Christi's Extra add-on) and because it's a race, we set the tracks a little more toward the middle of the trail than usual to give the racers a good line. As such, if you want to get our there and enjoy the race course, I'd recommend classic skis this time. This time the race start is at 10am and it is interval start.

In addition to our work on the race course, we rolled Jelm View loop twice and partially removed a large down tree (we only brought a hand saw and thus sawed off just enough for the groomer to get through... we'll deal with the rest later).

Skate Race Tomorrow!

Today's grooming was focused on preparing for tomorrow's 15k skate race. As such, we groomed countless laps of the race course (the Rail Trail Loop and the new Christi's Extra add-on) and that's about all we did. I would highly recommend getting out your skate skis to check out the grooming before or after the race (which starts at 11am). It's probably the best skate grooming Chimney Park has ever seen... except for those few places where Ella got the groomer stuck on the Rail Trail...

New snow, fresh tracks

Over the last few days about 4 inches of heavy snow fell. We rolled the route to rail trail as well as Rachel’s O and Christi’s extra. Everything should firm up tonight and it should be good for both skate and classic.

Honestly nothing but amazing!

We got out early to put some tracks in and there were already 3 cars in the lot!

We set tracks to the Rail Trail, up what we’re calling Christi's Extra, the new extension from Rachel’s O, around Rachel’s O and back. The skiing is stunning!

By the time we changed into ski gear there were so many people on the trails!!!

Get out today, the weather is great and the skiing fantastic!

Next Saturday & Sunday we will be hosting the Cowboy Chase, UW Nordic races, out on Rachel’s O & Christi's Extra. 15km freestyle on Saturday starting at 11am & 7.5km classic on Sunday at 10am. Feel free to enjoy the extra grooming before or after or let us know if you’d like to jump in the race. Everyone is welcome.
