Those Fancy Pants

Chimney Park did not get nearly the amount of snow that was dropped in Laramie. There was about 4-6" of that really soft snow. I think the adjective would be, champaign, but that might be trademarked. Either way everything has been rolled and packed double-wide, with the Rail Trail receiving a pass of the proper groomer.  Most of the thin spots are filling in nicely but the standard wind-blown locations on Jelm View Loop and Porters remain thin but can be easily seen and maneuvered.  Get to it before the wind fills it in. Happy Skiing!

Nearly There!

There was another 6ish inches of relatively wet snow and we packed the Rail Trail/Connector/Loop, Jelm View, and Porters each twice. There are still a few thin spots on Jelm View and Porters but otherwise, the coverage is the best it's been all year!

Get out there and ski, it's amazing!

More snow! Get out there, it’s magical!

We went out got one last groom for 2024. Our plan had been to take the Tidtech out to smooth out some wind blown sections but upon arrival we found 2-4 inches of champagne powder!

We decided some packing was in order to capture the fresh snow.

Connector, Rail Trail, & Rachel’s O are inspiring for skating!

Also went around Jelm 2X & it’s starting to get a nice base.

Everything is covered, with the normal random rocks on Jelm.

Honestly great skiing!

Good Omens

We had planned to groom Monday but it looked like a lot of snow fell & most people go out on weekends so we headed out early this morning. On the way up the canyon we saw a beautiful rainbow, a good omen for our day.

There was 6-8 inches of fresh, heavy snow. No champagne powder, more like Sierra Cement. The grooming was hard & we couldn’t pull our usual packer with so much heavy snow so we dug out the roller and that mostly worked. Since the snow packed so well it also made quite a solid base!

We rolled Jelm & Porter loops with one pass. Very few thin spots left out there after the new snow.

The Connector, Rail Trail, & Rachel’s O got 2 passes and basically have full coverage.

The skiing is fantastic, you should get out there!

It’s winter out there!

 A beautiful, snowy, morning!

3-4 inches of new snow and a lot of wind which actually made it feel like no new snow in some areas and a foot in others!

We packed Connector, Rail Trail, Rachel’s O. Also the small loops on the south side of the dam, we’re tentatively naming them Christi’s Caper.

There are no more bare spots once you cross the dam but a few rocky spots that are easily skied around.

Very good skiing and it feels like a winter wonderland!

Buffed out nicely!

Beautiful morning for a ski!

We thought we would get some packing done before the next series of storms, yay! We buffed out about 1” of fresh snow on the Connector, Rail Trail, & Rachel’s O.

The Rail Trail, Rachel’s O, and parts of the Connector from Chimney Park are beautiful. There are also some rocks & bare spots along the Connector.

If you have a high profile vehicle you can still get into the Rail Traill parking lot and access the trail there. .

Either way the skiing/skating is sublime!

Christi & Rachel hope to be grooming around the snow predictions and plan to head out Saturday & Monday mornings. We hope to get enough snow to hit Jelm & Porter as well as the Rail Trail, & Rachel’s O.

BOWA is fixed!!!

Shout out to Ben, with the assistance of Ella, for fixing our machine, named BOWA! Ben bought the parts and fixed it at Chimney Park saving us time & money.

The trails have been buffed and we will continue through the break as needed.

Get out and ski!
